IngrediScan FAQ
Does IngrediScan use AI?
No. A fixed dictionary and fixed rules decide the result. The same label text always gives the same result. See how IngrediScan decides.
How accurate is the camera scan?
The app corrects common reading errors, such as swapped letters, split words and garbled E-numbers. Text recognition can still miss part of a label, especially in low light or on curved packs. Compare the result with the label for anything important.
Does "no result" mean the product is safe?
No. It means the app found no entry that matches your profile. The label may be unreadable, or the ingredient may not be in the dictionary.
What do the levels mean?
Each ingredient gets a level of Low, Medium, High or Critical for the profile you chose. Low means the rules found little or no concern for that profile. Every level has a reason and sources.
Which profiles are there?
Adult, child, infant, dog and cat. You can add allergies and an avoid list to each profile. A profile can also hold a family member or a pet.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Scanning works without internet. A barcode lookup goes online only when you tap it. It uses Open Food Facts and Open Beauty Facts.
Which languages does it read?
Labels in 21 Latin-script languages. Names appear in the language you choose in the app. This website is available in English and Polish.
What data leaves my phone?
There is no account and no developer server. Camera frames are never saved or sent. Saved analyses stay on your device. Third parties receive data only for the features you use: barcode lookup, ads in the free version, and Google Play services for text recognition and purchases. The privacy policy lists all of them.
What is free and what is Pro?
The free version gives full detection for food and cosmetics, 2 profiles and 10 saved analyses. It shows ads. Pro is a single payment with no renewal. It adds unlimited profiles, unlimited history with search and filters, and no ads. The price in your country appears in Google Play.
Is there a subscription?
No.
Does it give medical advice?
No. The assessment is for information only. It does not replace the manufacturer's label or advice from a doctor or vet.
Which devices does it run on?
Android phones. The app is on Google Play.
How do I report a mistake?
Write to [email protected]. Include the ingredient name and the label text if you can.
